A member of the new generation of Turkish designers, Simay Bülbül has brought a fresh new breath to the leather industry – one of the powerhouses of Turkish economy – with her innovative use of leather in her collections.
In her collections, she brought together the vision she established during her studies in Britain and the Netherlands and the know-how she accumulated through her work in the field of design. Also providing design and brand consultancy services for various firms, Simay Bülbül also teaches and designs costumes for movies, TV series and music videos.
Winner of the 2003 derisigner Turkey (leather design contest), Simay Bülbül’s collections incorporating textiles with leather strike out with their details combining simplicity and difference.
Working within the fashion industry since 2001, Simay Bülbül started designing for her own label 4 years ago. She believes she reflects her brand identity through the urban texture.
She opened her new 600 square meter showroom in Galata in 2011. She continues to prepare beskope designs for special occasions incorporating leather with elegant fabrics. She prepares all kinds of gowns, from wedding dresses to evening dresses and provides image consultancy for many celebrities.
She opened her first showroom Leather Design Boutique in Galata in 2009. Her collections are available at around 25 domestic and international sales points.
As the first Turkish designer to establish an atelier and brand specializing in leather, Simay Bülbül was granted the official support of the Turkish Leather Council in honor of her work within the leather industry.
Presenting her first personal runway show at Garaj Istanbul, Simay Bülbül has exhibited her collections in numerous domestic and international organizations.
She represented Turkey, as part of the 2010 Istanbul European Capital of Culture projects, presenting her collection at a runway show in Germany.
